It is a performance to celebrate 5 years of Encore by revisiting each of our previous large-scale musicals and Stage School productions, as well as musical numbers from shows we’d love to take on in the future. The performance will be made up of solos, small group, large group and full cast numbers from different musicals.

We will take applications from any child or young adult in Year 4+ or aged 9 or over. There is no enforced age limit, although our performers tend to be younger than 25. Previous experience with Encore is not required to sign up.

Yes and no. If you have never performed with Encore before, or have only performed as part of Stage School, you will be required to audition. If you are a previous cast member from one of our main-stage productions, you will need to apply to be part of the cast. Some people may not be required to audition, however cast members who are moving up an age group, have not performed with us recently, or have only performed in one production may be asked to audition.

Very soon! Saturday 9th March (9am-5pm) – there is an option for a morning or afternoon audition.

About 120, although the exact number will depend on the applications from previous cast members and the auditions from new cast members. We will aim to accommodate as many performers as possible.

All rehearsal are at Remuera Primary School.

11am-7pm on Saturdays, 6:30pm-9pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays.
Below is the approximate schedule, although we anticipate the final schedule to be very similar.
Saturday:
12pm-2pm: Year 4, 5, 6
1pm-3pm: Year 7, 8, 9, 10
3:30-4:30pm: Additional Numbers (Solos, Dance Troupe etc.)
4:30pm-6:30pm: Year 11+
Tuesday/Thursday:
6:30pm-9pm: Additional Numbers (Solos, Dance Troupe etc.)

Some cast members will be selected by the Encore Team to perform additional numbers – these people must be available for the Saturday slot and weeknight rehearsals each week.
It is important to note that whilst general cast members will only be required on Saturdays, they should be available to attend weeknight rehearsals from the 11th of June if scheduled.

There is space in your application to list these conflicts, and it is important that you do so we can do our best to ensure the schedule benefits all.

Once the cast has been selected, the Team will begin planning which performers will feature in what numbers – some of this will not be finalised until after the rehearsals have already begun.

We will have 2 performances at the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna on Saturday 29th June.

The rehearsal and performance period is from Saturday 6th April to Saturday 29th June. All cast members will be required for a rehearsal every Saturday from the 6th of April, excluding the 20th April. Select cast members will also be required for at least one Tuesday/Thursday each week from the 9th of April, excluding the 16th, 18th, 23rd & 25th of April (school holidays).

Weekend Intensive: 25th & 26th May (9am-6pm)
Additional Rehearsal: Sunday 23rd June (11am-7pm)
Run through: Tuesday 25th June (6:30pm-9:30pm)
Rehearsals in Theatre: Wednesday 26th & Thursday 27th June (some time off school may be required)
Performances: Saturday 29th June

There is no payment required to apply or audition. All accepted cast members will be required to pay a fee of $415 (+gst), which will include a limited edition 5th Birthday Party Concert t-shirt.
